NOTE: This is my second attempt at this assignment. My first version was not a 2 person interview so I redid it upon the recommendation of my professor. See below for the first attempt.
Overview: For this assignment we were to record a scripted interview that included open questions and follow up questions. The audio recording was then to be edited to remove spaces, have music added and edited down to less than two minutes.
Topic: I wanted to focus on sewing, so I adapted my first recording be a two person interview. I was interviewed by my husband about my website I'm hoping to create for my final project. It was scripted using my first audio sample as a guide.
Equipment: I bought a Blue Snowball to do this assignment. Both my husband and I have considered doing a podcast, so this was a good excuse to invest in a good (but cheap) external mic. I used Audaitiy to record and edit the audio.
The Editing: This version was a lot easier to edit because I knew what I had included in the first sample so instead of rerecording the whole segment as an interview, I only used the parts of the audio that had made the cut in the first version. My original recording for this second attempt was barely over 2 minutes long, so after cutting out some stutters and spaces and adding music it was still under 2 minutes. I edited the introduction because Cody had said "assignment 2" and it was really assignment 3. I also edited the sound to be a bit louder, normalized and compressed the audio, added some fade in/out to the music and lowered the amplitude of some of the loud "p" and "ck" sounds as well as any audible breaths I could find.
The Files: Here's the draft and edited audio mp3 files for my second attempt at this assignment:

Overview: For this assignment we were to record a scripted interview that included open questions and follow up questions. The audio recording was then to be edited to remove spaces, have music added and edited down to less than two minutes.
Topic: I had finally decided on what I wanted to do for my final project (a sewing blog with the first blog series focusing on pattern drafting) and I really wanted something relevant to my final project. My husband and I talked about how he could interview me, but it seemed inauthentic so in the end I decided to write a podcast-style script where I ask questions and then answer them. I have toyed with the idea of doing my own podcast and I would love to incorporate something like that with my final project. This audio project I created is something I would feel comfortable using on my final website.
The editing: I used Audacity to edit my 2 minutes and 35 second audio down to 1 minute and 50 seconds. It was easy to cut the beginning and end as well as deleting some stuttering on certain words, but I also had to add time by adding music. In the end I deleting some unnecessary words and a few sentences that seemed irrelevant. I rerecorded the introduction because I didn't like the way I said it and recorded a concluding "thanks for listening" so the ending sounded more friendly. I also edited the sound to be a bit louder and some fade in/out to the music. I didn't have a pop filter so I placed a receiving blanket over my mic, but my "p"'s had a really high amplitude, so I lowered the amplitude for those small sections.
